Interceptor 650 – a review by Nabajeet Sharma
Since its launch in Nov’18, auto enthusiasts have dissected the motorcycle and have given their elaborate review reports across various medium. Will skip that part and let you know my story of how I have apparently reduced 10kgs, Oops 10 years!
Just when the news of Twins getting launched was around the corner, I was contemplating to own and ride a performance motorcycle after a gap of 10 years. A “650 CC twin cylinder” motorcycle at half the price from any other manufacturer helped me not to procrastinate things, not to mention Pirelli Sportscomp tyres, the Brembo Brakes, Bosch ABS, Slipper Clutch and the timeless retro café-racer look.
Booked it the first day the bookings were open and was pleasantly surprised with the overall dealer facility, RE has come in a long way.
Fast forward to one of the recent weekends I decided to wake up early and ride 140kms towards a breakfast joint in Gujarat Highway, the decision was taken as the road is relatively empty during early hours and had a balanced mix of straight stretch and twisty roads. The acceleration can be scary and in no time, I was doing triple digit speeds. Braking, high speed handling and overall stability is just superb. The best part was I was able to keep up with litre class bikes on the highway. A downshift with a light throttle is enough to bring a grin on your face. Cornering in twisty roads is confidence inspiring with the soft component Pirellis. In no time one can connect with the soul of the bike and fall in love with the rumble.
Have done quite a few weekend rides post that and I am enjoying it more than ever before, thanks to Royal Enfield for making weekends even more awesome!
P.S. In no way I am encouraging high speed riding, ones’ safety should be the utmost priority. Wear helmet and protective gear. Godspeed!
